We dedicate ourselves to the advancement of education through teaching, scholarship and service to society by providing an all-round education in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility, creating a culture of continuous improvement, fostering high moral standards and developing a spirit of service and respect for others.
The aim of the University is to provide an all-round education for its students in an atmosphere of freedom and responsibility. Admission to the University is granted to all deserving students regardless of their background. This is reflected in the University motto:
I am delighted to welcome you to Strathmore University. To those students who come from outside Kenya, I would also like to welcome you to Nairobi. I am glad that all of you are becoming part of the SU family, and I look forward to getting to know you better. You have chosen to study at a fine university. Unlike at other universities, each one of our students is a person with a name and a face, not just a number or statistic. Here the teachers care about the students and we prepare you for a professional career. You have come with talent and potential. You will leave prepared to join the leaders in business, industry and public service. Your entire learning experience here will shape your character, build your leadership skills and enable you to learn more about people from places, cultures and beliefs other than your own.
While you are here, we encourage you to strike a healthy balance between your academic activities and your enjoyment of the rich opportunities that the University offers for professional and personal growth. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you succeed. The University is committed to fostering an intellectual and ethical environment based on the principles of academic integrity. This includes a commitment to the values of honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, and respect. These values are essential to the success of the University’s educational aims and violations of academic integrity constitute serious offenses against the entire academic community.
All of you come here from different parts of our country and the world. You have different beliefs and backgrounds. You have different academic and personal goals. But what unites you- what unites us – is being a part of the SU family, where we are bound by common values and share a common motivation of making the world a place where all communities with diverse cultural, ethnic or religious heritage, can live together in harmony. Each one of you should contribute to this purpose by promoting and fostering understanding, harmony and social cohesion among your fellow students. Our hope for you is that the intellectual journey which you are embarking on will be marked by freedom of inquiry and an unceasing search for truth. You will find that Strathmore University will provide opportunities for your intellectual and cultural enrichment that are available nowhere else.
I wish you an inspiring and fulfilling journey of intellectual discovery and true personal growth.
